AI incident response tabletop exercises

Exercise AI incident decisions with application, security and business owners. Test containment authority, evidence access and recovery criteria without touching production.

Rehearse the decisions your runbook assumes are possible

An AI incident tabletop is a facilitated discussion using an agreed fictional scenario. It tests whether the right people can recognise the problem, obtain evidence, approve containment and accept recovery. It does not attack production systems or establish that your controls would defeat a real adversary.

Atlant Security can scope an exercise around your AI workflows, dependencies and decision makers. The value is a documented set of gaps and owners: a missing contact, a misunderstood permission, a log nobody can access or a restart decision with no acceptance criteria.

Select a scenario with a business consequence

A useful exercise sequence

  • Preparation: agree objectives, participants, assumptions and the fictional environment.
  • Opening observation: provide an incomplete report and ask for the first decisions.
  • Evidence inject: introduce a record or uncertainty challenging the initial hypothesis.
  • Containment choice: record the decision owner, expected impact and unresolved dependencies.
  • Recovery gate: ask what proves that restarting the workload is acceptable.
  • Debrief: assign actions, owners, evidence of completion and a review date.

Measure the ability to act

Track whether participants identify a real authority, usable record source and escalation route. Record where a decision depends on a person or provider outside the exercise. Distinguish “we would revoke the token” from knowing which administrator can revoke it and what business process it would interrupt.

An exercise score is not a guarantee of future response. Use observations to update the AI incident response plan, evidence arrangements and retainer scope. Agree participant time, scenario depth and deliverable format before the session.
